RODNEY LEWIS

Rodney has been a solicitor in Sydney for over 50 years, and his law practice has been involved in acting on business and commercial law, property law, business litigation and wills and estate administration work.
In 1999, Rodney began part-time lecturing university graduates and undergraduates Western Sydney University in a new - Australian first - course in Elder Law. After a couple of years, he decided to write a book on the subject and that became a 550-page text book called Elder Law in Australia, published by LexisNexis of Sydney in 2004, with a second edition in 2011.
Rodney is the Senior Solicitor at Elderlaw. Elderlaw is all the law about ageing and includes inter-generational conflict over financial and property issues, guardianship and financial management applications, retirement village contracts and disputes, aged care contracts and disputes, wills and estate conflicts as well as deceased estate administration.
Rodney has delivered many seminars and webinars around the country and has made submissions on policy to the Australian Law Reform Commission inquiry inter Elder Abuse, and the Royal Commission into Aged Care. One of his main objectives is to change the culture in aged care and the NDIS about unlawful restraint through legal education and the application of the law.
